Meta Introducing Instagram Explore Home Ads Placement Via Marketing API

Meta has announced new Instagram explore ad placements and formats. Businesses can now place advertisements in the exploring home, the grid that users scroll when they first arrive on the explore tab. Meta has taken the initiative to assist advertisers in reaching their target audience.

When a person interacts with an ad, the company will send ads that it believes may be of interest, using machine learning. According to the platform’s blog post, adding multi-advertiser contextual ads to existing Instagram feed campaigns outperformed ongoing campaigns in terms of purchase outcome when compared to campaigns that did not include multi-advertiser ads.

The platform also stated that once the advertisement has finished playing, the original reel will loop again. In addition, the company is testing image carousel ads for reels. The ad can contain up to ten image ads and will appear at the bottom of the Facebook reels content.

The company is also testing Post-loop ads, which are 4 to 10 second skippable and standalone video ads that play after a reel has ended, to help businesses better connect with their audiences through Facebook reels.

New Instagram Marketing API Placement Option

Meta announced on Friday, November 11th, that ads can now be placed on the instagram Explore home via the Instagram Marketing API.

The official announcement posted this past Friday stated:

“We now allow for ads in Instagram Explore home via the Instagram Marketing API.

This new ads placement will be available on all current Marketing API versions, and does not require an upgrade.”

Three new capabilities are provided by this new feature

A. Ads Creation: When creating ads, developers will be able to use “INSTAGRAM EXPLORE HOME” as one of the placement options.

B. Ads Insights: When insights are broken down by Placement level, it will be possible to see how ads perform on Instagram. Investigate home placement

C. Ad Preview: The preview will be available to developers in the INSTAGRAM EXPLORE GRID HOME format.

The Announcement sugessted

“Utilizing this new addition, it is possible for you to to replace your app to allow your shoppers to create and preview advertisements in Instagram Discover house through API.”

Meta stated that the developer documentation for using the new features will be available soon.
